Welcome

I would like to extend a warm welcome to the Grange Academy website and thank you for taking an interest in our school.

We hope that you enjoy looking through our web pages. We are immensely proud of the work that our pupils and staff do at Grange Academy. Our website is designed to tell you a little bit more about us and also to share up to date information with our pupils, parents and local community.
We are an inclusive special needs school for pupils, aged 5-16, with a diverse range of learning needs including moderate learning difficulties, autism and medical and physical needs. Our most recent Ofsted inspection judged the school to be Good with Outstanding leadership.

At Grange we provide excellent learning and enrichment opportunities for our pupils, in a safe and caring environment, where pupils are inspired to achieve their best. We want our pupils to feel a deep sense of belonging, believe in themselves and achieve. We aim to ensure that all our pupils make academic, social, emotional and personal progress. Our staff work in partnership with parents and outside agencies to ensure that every child gets their needs met. We hope that by the time our children leave us, they are more independent, more resilient, more confident and have a positive self-image and high self-esteem. Our aim is to equip our pupils to continue with Post 16 learning and be positive role models within the community.

We are committed to providing the very best bespoke education for our pupils, regardless of their starting points or needs. Our dedicated, highly skilled staff team are passionate about pupils’ education and SEND provision. We strive to provide a creative, inspiring, broad and balanced curriculum that is supported by a wide range of exciting extra-curricular opportunities. Wellbeing, happiness, success and collaboration are at the core of our practice at Grange.

Grange has been recognised as a UNICEF Rights Respecting School at Gold Level – the only special school in Bedford to receive such an award. This recognises the work that we have done, and continue to do in placing The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child at the heart of our planning, policies, practice and ethos.

We have also achieved the prestigious Artsmark Gold Award and this recognises outstanding practice around arts and culture.

I hope that our website will provide answers to any questions you may have, but if you require further information please do not hesitate to get in touch with us.

Please have a look at our impressive newsletters written by our pupils to give you a real flavour of life at Grange.

We look forward to working alongside our families and welcome you for a visit to see for yourselves what Grange Academy has to offer.
