Cultural Capital at Grange

At Grange Academy our intent is to enable our pupils to be global citizens and give them the skills and opportunities to talk about the wider world in which we live with confidence. We want to develop the skills to appreciate and discuss elements of arts and culture through giving pupils a wide range of experiences within and outside the classroom. We want to celebrate heritage, arts, language and traditions of our country and the wider world. We want our pupils to be equipped to be the best that they can be as they grow up; extending our curriculum beyond the academic and enabling them to develop and discover their own interests and talents.

We believe that exposure, not only to culture but also to situations in which pupils might not have previous experiences of, is of paramount importance to their ongoing successes.

Gradually widening pupils’ experiences as they progress through school is an important step in providing rich and engaging learning. We want our pupils to experience the theatre, nature, art, music and offer a wide range of experiences; visiting museums, galleries; and other places of interest. Included in this are trips linked to topic areas, shops and visits to places of worship, museums, sports and music venues just to name a few.

Grange Academy is a Unicef Gold Rights Respecting School and Gold Artsmark School. Ofsted rated ‘Good’ (May 2022).
